6th International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition

6th International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition

Hosted by Loma Linda University’s School of Public Health in California, the International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition takes place every five years, and focuses on scientific, health, and lifestyle implications of plant-based diets. The INC funded the symposium “Plant based diet patterns and healthy aging”, held on February 24th.

The congress, which took place from the 24th to the 26th, brought together some of the world’s leading experts and researchers on vegetarian nutrition. Professor Jordi Salas-Salvadó, Chairman of the INC World Forum for Nutrition Research and Dissemination participated in the symposium “Role of nuts in disease prevention” with the presentation “Nuts in the prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic syndrome”.

The INC supported this event to encourage health research specifically for the prevention of diseases through nut and dried fruit consumption, and to raise people awareness on the importance of nuts and dried fruit in the daily diet.

Dr. Joan Sabaté, Chairperson of the 6th International Congress on Vegetarian Nutrition and Chair of Loma Linda’s School of Public Health Nutrition Department received the INC Award for Excellence in Research last year in Singapore, on occasion of the World Nut and Dried Fruit Congress.
